programs

The goal within each program at Carter's Webb is to provide an environment that recognizes how special God has made each of us. All programs have wonderful teachers who are dedicated to young children, growing their educational and experience levels, and carrying out the goals set for the Center. The Director has special training in early childhood education, as well as extensive administrative and teaching experience. All other staff members meet state-required qualifications and are chosen on the basis of their contribution to the team. Staff members are given on-the-job training as well as opportunities for continuing education to help develop their full potential as leaders and teachers. The Center’s teacher/pupil ratio meets or exceeds all legal requirements. Carter's Webb is accredited by the Maryland State Department of Education.

Carter's Webb, as a state accredited center, serves children ages 6 weeks - 5th grade. Hours of operation are 6am to 6pm. Maryland State Department of Education approved Creative Curriculum is a combination of teacher-directed and child-selected activities, presented in a setting that offers a variety of age-appropriate learning experiences. The program emphasizes exploration, problem-solving and discovery skills in the areas of science, art, music and movement, expressive and receptive language development, social studies, math, pre-reading, physical, and social development. All of our teachers are qualified and credentialed.

Children are grouped in classes by age and/or development level.

CUBS - Infants and Toddlers

Cubs classrooms are the infant/toddler classrooms, focusing on individual schedules. These classes have flexible schedules to accommodate the ages and developmental level of the infants.

LIONS & TIGERS - 2's & 3's

Lions & Tigers classes are the 2 & 3 year olds. These classrooms focus on self help skills, self regulation, independence, cooperation and much more.

BEARS - 4's

Bears Class is the 4 year olds. This class focuses on kindergarten readiness. The curriculum taught in the Bears class aligns with Calvert County Public Schools. The children are taught how to be in a classroom setting with responsibilities and expectations.

SCHOOL AGE

Before & After Care is a great place for a School Aged child to be. It's a closely- supervised safe-place before and after school where they will be fed (breakfast and/or snack), play outside and inside with many games and activities. There are friends to be made, Legos to build castles, outfits to become a princess, and many more things to do.

Carter's Webb serves Plum Point, Huntingtown, and Sunderland Elementary Schools. Transportation provided to and from all elementary schools listed. However, you must live in the Huntingtown School District and the Plum Point School District to attend those schools. All transfers must be submitted to the Calvert County School Board for review.
